The International Saharan Tourism Festival is a strategic national event with an international dimension, aimed at promoting Saharan tourism as an authentic and exceptional product by highlighting the vast tourism potential of the Algerian desert — positioning Algeria among the world’s most prominent travel destinations. This event is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity and richness of Algeria’s southern provinces, each distinguished by its own natural and cultural identity that showcases the depth and variety of the national heritage. It reflects the richness and diversity of Saharan tourism as a product — serving as a bridge between cultures, fostering the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and paving the way for promising future perspectives in the development and global promotion of Saharan tourism.
Timimoun has been chosen to host the 7th edition of The International Saharan Tourism Festival, thanks to its remarkable tourism potential, which makes it one of the most outstanding destinations for lovers of the Algerian desert.Located in the southwestern region of Algeria, the province—also known as Tigurarin—is nicknamed the “Red Oasis” due to the distinctive red hue that colors its buildings and ancient ksour, built from clay, brick, or stone. This gives the city a unique architectural character, blending the simplicity of design with the precision of craftsmanship.
