The 7th edition of The International Saharan
Tourism Festival in Timimoun arrives in a new and distinguished format under the theme: Timimoun: The Authentic Millennium Reveals Its Generosity.
Its organization is inspired by the rich and authentic Saharan heritage, drawing creativity and innovation from it, while striving for sustainable development that respects the cultural specificity of the region and keeps pace with contemporary transformations.
This edition’s program includes:
Scientific Sessions on Sustainable Saharan Tourism: Led by specialized experts to share experiences and exchange knowledge.
Open Discussions with Tourism Stakeholders: Showcasing achievements, discussing projects and challenges, and exploring prospects for developing Saharan tourism in line with international standards.
Exhibition on Tourism and Handicrafts: Highlighting local skills and expertise in carpets, jewelry, pottery, leatherwork, baskets, and more, alongside showcasing available tourism services in southern regions.
Innovation and Technology Hub in Tourism Promotion: Creative youth participants present innovative digital experiences bridging past and present, from Saharan caravan eras to virtual visits, reflecting the new generation’s dynamism in preserving and presenting heritage in modern ways.
Audio-Visual Presentations: Works produced by talented young people inspired by the Algerian Sahara, promoting the region through visual and sound media.
Field Tours: Exploring Timimoun’s tourist paths to appreciate the living heritage that demonstrates the ingenuity of the local population and their adaptability to the harsh desert environment.
Music and Cultural Performances: Representing various forms of Saharan art and highlighting the diversity of local cultural heritage.
Sports Activities: Showcasing both traditional and contemporary sports of the Sahara.
